I really love this. It's such a wonderful depiction of the relationship between artists and their audience. Even in the little things, like how the protagonist seems to have moved on to fanworks over original stuff, its painfully relatable but also. Refreshing. Standards rise, the doubt kicks in. But art is art, and if it makes someone feel something, that's a success. And this made ME feel something, so, great job!!
this is so cute and really resonated with me!! thank you for helping remind me how much all work has value, even if we can't see it for ourselves. also i just want to say that i can totally see the doremi influence <3
As someone with...there own beginner kinda messy askblog and that I still need to finish. Natbakke really resonates with me here. I saw "thinly veiled rip off" and felt like biting my own hand lol. It was an extremely delightful read though. The sincerity and genuine enthusiasm in Lottie's words was really nice, the reminder that no matter how "old" or "bad" something is that it could still and maybe has touched someone genuinely. That your work as an artist can and will matter for people. Itsa good!
This was such a delight to read! Lottie is very sweet and she's very much like me, I love reading my friends' works and sometimes I remember too much details and got a little bit too excited about it haha! The art is very lovely, I love zooming in and finding small references on it! I might have jumped a little bit when doremi was mentioned because I absolutely LOVE doremi growing up <3 The contrast between the MC's personality and Lottie is really cute too, I'd love to see them interact again :D really awesome entry, I love this a lot!
Ah, this was so well-written and so cute! I loved the art (Lottie's expressions were so adorably lively + the nerdy easter eggs were such a great touch!!!) and the message behind the piece was so sincere and needed. Still, I too want know how Euxorista ends lol
I really loved this entry. Your artwork is so cute and Lottie felt so expressive. I really liked the small animations like her blinking as well. The details in the environment were also cool (like the Phoenix Wright keychain).
I really liked the message behind your game. As creators we don't always know how personally our works can touch people, even if it's a "self-centered" project like the main character's was. I'd like to imagine that after this, the main character thought more about an ending for the webcomic and made a blog post for Lottie to enjoy the next time she reread it. You told a really great story that brought a smile to my face. It made me think about the first works I had created.
This was very impressive! First off, the character art for the Lottie looks amazing! I love the colors you used and just the overall style for her. The background is also very nice, I like the small detail of moving the background character shadows up and down to give an impression of a busy convention hall. Story-wise, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of depth this short story had. I felt like I got a lot of insight into the author by her interactions with Lottie. The subject matter the narrative goes into is one any creative type can go through and it’s genuinely nice to see the perspective of that subject from a fan’s point of view, especially when it challenges the author’s viewpoint. Overall, this was pretty amazing! You made a really compelling game given the limitations of the jam! Looking forward to whatever you work on next!
I'm working on and off on a longer visual novel, so feel free to follow my itch.io page or my social media for updates (they might take a while though)!
I'd like to say that Lottie is the best part of this because she is super cute and likeable, but to me the protagonist steals the show. I like how grounded and relatable the protagonist is. The dialogue and thoughts flow very naturally and are pretty well-written.
This is easily one of my favorite submissions for 02A2!! The story is so good and the characters are so well written. The art and character designs really sell it, though. It all ties in together super well stylistically and I loved how lively and in depth the background was!
Also the little keychains on the side were so cute! The Marcille and Falin one was my favorite
